Thanksgiving Time

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving Break. It was so nice to be off work and just spend time with Eric and family :) Several of my friends posted a little Q & A about Thanksgiving and it was cute so I decided to follow on as well.

#1 : What do you look forward to more: the food, the football, or the parades?
A: THE FOOD OF COURSE! Sweet potato casserole, banana pudding, dressing, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole...well you get the idea, it is all delicious. Do I sit down and watch football with the boys. Sure I do, although not as nearly passionate about it as they are.

#2 : What is your favorite non-traditional Thanksgiving day dish.
A: Well that depends on your definition of non-traditional. My favorite is chess bars! Amazing delicious sweet gooey deliciousness. At my house we don't really do pies (not because of myself, I wouldn't mind a few pies.) However, my family not so much. No pies for us. So we make chess bars!!! Delicious!

#3 : After dinner is it a nap or football?
A: Neither, we play Krazy Bee Rummy! Best tradition ever, although sometimes I need a nap.

#4 : What are your Thanksgiving Traditions?
A : Well aside from the aforementioned, every Thanksgiving afternoon my sister and I go to Old Navy and buy matching Christmas pajama pants :) Best tradition ever.

#5 : What is your favorite Thanksgiving Day dessert?
A: Chess bars of course...followed closely by Banana Pudding!

Thanksgiving Day was awesome. The whole break was awesome and relaxing.  Eric and I started it off by watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Eric went on a hunt for us for actual Wonka Bars, which Walgreens used to sell, but alas we did have our own chocolate bars to watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

I had fun seeing my family ( I have missed them.) Shh don't tell them. I really missed my little sister. She is growing up so quick. I can't believe she is almost 16!

Garasen was happy to see me, solely so he would have someone new to ramble onto about football...and so he could tell me he wanted a 90" TV for Christmas....I am glad he thinks of me as that rich.

I was really excited to see Grammy. I never realized exactly how much I would miss her. What am I going to do when I move hundreds of miles away.

Our first Thanksgiving Picture together!

I got to see Nicole and Rachael on Black Friday morning at IHOP. We three couples all went out. It was nice to spend some time with people our age and see old friends :)

We also had Rachel and Connor over and spent time with them ( I am not sure why I didn't snap a picture) Mini fail for me.
We also got to eat with the Koonces and my sister during the break!

Did you see the cuteness? In the purple dress? Did you see her! I can't believe she has grown so much!

Over Thanksgiving break, I got my first official piece of mail with my new name on it! Exciting times!

Needless to say, it was a great break!!! The pictures should speak for themselves!

Praying, Budgeting, and Other Random Things.

When I typed in the words to the title of this post I felt like I was almost typing in a contradiction or almost that I was being blasphemous....the old conservative school days in me I suppose. I know that I am not supposed to worry about tomorrow....at the same time....my money in the end isn't my money it is God's money. HIs money that he has most definitely blessed me with. If it is ultimately God's money than I should plan and be wise in my spending.  So budget away to my heart's desire.

E and I have a big decision to make in the next week...I think we have already decided but we are going to keep praying until the deadline of when we have to give an answer. We want to be absolutely positive that this decision we make is indeed God's will and not our own human ambition.

So as we pray and wait we simply enjoy married life with each other. We have still been cooking...I don't think we will ever stop doing that....we love to cook together...and it is so much healthier than eating out all the time...and a huge money saver. This is probably one of our favorite things to do together :) So we wait...we pray...we cook....and work...don't forget work. We both stay very busy with work. We are a very humdrum couple i know.

I had my egd this morning where the doctor put a scope down my throat and into my stomach to check everything out...TMI I know!!! Sorry.  I am so glad I work for a great doctor who was willing to take time out of his busy schedule to do this procedure...also thankful that God placed me in an office with a doctor who specializes in the area that I have been having problems in. Needles don't bother me but this morning I got to experience a lot of medicine into an IV that had blown my vein...no fun...but not super painful. After a second IV got started very quickly ( and a quick reminder from me to the Dr. to be nice to me because I do help him run his clinics )I felt myself drifting off as the anesthesia took control....and then I woke up...and I have been up all day....talking even more than I normally do ALL day....my poor Grandma. She was hoping to get a quiet day out of me since I had had anesthesia earlier...and nope she didn't get that... once I wake up from anesthesia I am awake. Almost like an opposite effect. Oh well. I can't be too normal can I?

As it does near the evening though I am starting to wind down and feel abnormally tired. That just means alot of sleep for me :) I am excited about a Saturday to sleep in ( so naturally I will probably be wide awake by 7, lol)

Oh well enough rambling for now!
Peace!

Decisions and Prayers

Hello all!
I hope yall are doing well.

Things have been settling into place for E and myself. We have our work schedules and E's school schedule all worked out and dinner and cleaning all gets done. I love that I get to work together with him in cleaning ( because cleaning with someone else is always more fun than cleaning something else.)

I have settled into my role at Horizon. I am learning new things everyday and truly do love what I do there. Even though some days I think I am going to go crazy, I am very thankful to have my job and very thankful for the wonderful co-workers and doctors I work with.

E has found  a job that works with his school schedule and I could not be more proud of him.

I am having a procedure done this Friday...which I am absolutely dreading. A quick recap...earlier this year after having bronchitis for over a year...I was finally tested for and diagnosed with reflux...i was given samples of a medicine that really helped but when the samples ran out it got worse. My insurance is refusing to cover the medicine because they say I am too young to have reflux that is bad. So after much putting it off and after some convincing from my pulmonologist and the gastro doctor that I work for I am getting the procedure this Friday. If you know me, you know that I would rather get blood drawn, an IV started ( i do get that wish with this test) or anything that involves a needle than have my throat messed with...so prayers for peace and calmness would be appreciated. I don't know why I get so nervous about silly stuff like this but I do.

Secondly, we have a big decision to make soon that was placed before us recently. I won't go into details now because we still have quite a bit to discuss but prayers would be greatly appreciated for guidance and wisdom as we seek the Lord's will and figure out where our adventure will lead us next.

Well that is all for now.

HONEYMOON!

Our honeymoon was amazing! We both love Disney so naturally we went there! I am so glad I got to go to Disney with my best friend and husband :) It was a nice time of vacation and relaxation for us and a great way to start off this new journey of our life together.

Here are just a few picture highlights of our trip!
Room key with my new name on it!!! I was so excited to see this and have my new name official somewhere!
It was Food and Wine at Epcot and the pastry chefs at different resorts had a competition to see who could make the best Disney scene out of chocolate. This was my favorite! This is all made out of chocolate! AMAZING!
Eric got to see Farmer Mickey!
 PLUTO!
This is how excited we are to be at Disney!!
I love Animal Kingdom! So glad we got to go there during Extra Magic Hours so we could have more time there.
There were alot of animals out during our safari! I put a few pictures up of some of the animals that were out! There were so many out that I could not possibly add all of those pictures here.

I love that the lionesses and the lion were out! They hardly ever are.
Aside from the Dole Whip, this is one of my new favorite deserts! Fresh Green Apple Sorbet! When I say that this desert was as light as air, I am not exaggerating, and it had fresh pieces of green apples in it!
The first time I got to sign my name as MRS. HIGNIGHT!!!

Our wedding Mickey ears! We LOVE them!
For Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party we wore these shirts that said "Bride", "Groom", and "Just Hitched" with the hitchhiking ghosts on them....clever right? So we only saw it fitting that we get a picture with a ghost from the Haunted Mansion.
Poor photo quality, but even the Dapper Dans became ghost like.
So the picture won't rotate (and I am too tired to spend a few minutes fixing it..) so here are pictures of our shirts...sideways....because sometimes you just have to mix it up!

I saved the best for last! I never ever get tired of this sight! I can't wait until they light it for Christmas ( I think it was tonight actually) Even though I can't be there just thinking about it makes me happy.
So anyway, that was our honeymoon in a nutshell. Sorry if I bored you! We are loving our new life together and can't wait for many more adventures to come...possibly at Disney!!!
